About the event
Quilt artist Maria Shell will share her work from her first stitches to her most recent pieces along with fun stories of trying to quilt while raising three boys in the wild lands of Alaska when she speaks to CQC at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 23. Maria’s work is grounded in the tradition of American patchwork while also connecting to the modern and art-quilt movements. Her journey is filled with laughter, dark Alaskan nights and lots of stitching.
During her workshop, “Making Prints Out of Solids: Lines, Tracks and More,” Maria will teach you to use solid-colored fabrics to make an assortment of stripes, tracks, dots and grids. While learning these techniques, you’ll learn to select color palettes, improvisational-piecing techniques, and how to use these techniques to create original quilts.
